2011 Grand Final Match Report - U14
Drummoyne 7-2-44 def by Western Suburbs 11-7-73.
This week's match report is not going to point out individuals...
l would like to firstly say how proud of all of the boys l am as are all your families! From where we started getting beaten every week to then winning and playing with belief in your ability was outstanding. You were rewarded with a place in the Grand Final and should hold your heads high.
Unfortunately we didn't come away with a win but we battled hard up against the odds. They were bigger, stronger bodies than most of our boys and we still put up a very brave fight. When you point out the fact we have players that are eligible for U12's and U13's they have done an exceptional job!
Also would like to send a big thank you to our Coach Brendan Cann and our assistant Coach Mark Willis who have done an amazing job with the boys and have created a very close knit team who will be a force in the future so thank you for giving up your time to coach and train our young men!
Also like to thank Jeremy Hall for taking extra training sessions when the coaches were unable to be there and helping out game days, also like to thank Peter Higgs for doing the running most weeks and helping when required.
Next and almost the most important is our amazing parent group that bring the boys to the games and training sessions, always ready to put their hands up to help out when it is our turn for canteen, or and job that l needed done game day, also for taking some amazing photos for the website. We have a couple of families doing that so thanks very much they were amazing!
Would also like to send a HUGE thank you to Hamish Lenton who kindly offered to do the boundary umpiring every week, so l didn't have think about filling that job. Thanks and you did a fantastic job !!
I think l have finished now and just wanted to congratulate the U12's and U13's on wining the Premiership! Overall l think it was a great season for Drummoyne with 4 teams playing over the Grand Final weekend!
On a personal note, as team manager and being new to the club l would like to thank everyone at the club and our team for making myself, the boys and the rest of our family very welcome, it has been a great experience and we are glad we chose Drummoyne !!! Thanks and good luck to everyone for next season hope to see you all back again!
