Drummoyne vs Easts
Last Saturday, Drummoyne Power played the Easts at Five Dock Oval. The rain held off to allow the Power 5/6’s to take on 10 of the 20 plus strong Easts players that showed up on the day.
Coach/referee Clint provided wonderful direction and refereeing to enable a game that was played in high spirits between two well matched teams.
Great team work was on display and with some excellent lead up handballs and kick passes from Lachie, Claudia, Jesse, Louis and Charlie enabling Joshua to kick 2 great goals in the first 2 thirds of the game.
Cooper again showed great skill in gathering the ball sending it up field with his long kicks. Louis showed some strong defence stopping what looked to be a certain goal and Ben was very active and competitive getting lots of possessions particularly while playing in the busy midfield.
Findlay continues to impress whether in defence or attack and had started a great move that enabled Bianca to take a mark and kick a great goal – caught by her dad behind goals!
The highlight of the day came late when, after some great team work up the field, Charlie kicked and excellent goal that was only outdone by his post goal celebration lap of honour.
Under 5/6’s are showing continual improvement – handballing, kicking and their ability to stay on their feet under pressure. All players seem to be enjoying the game and each other’s company.
