Round 10 Match Report - U9 Silver
Under 9 Silver vs Easts
A tough day at the office for the Under 9 Silver team this week as they fronted a very skilful and disciplined East Sydney outfit at Five Dock.
The rescheduling of the match from Trumper to Five Dock due to ground closure did not help our boys as Easts had the jump on them from the first ball-up. The Power boys found it hard to contain the Bulldogs early on as they led to the ball quickly without too much pressure. Our guys had to wait until the second quarter to establish their rhythm and confidence.
When the boys did man up, they made the match much more competitive. The ball distribution and clearances improved, supported by tough tackling efforts by Bryson, George and Harry. Ryan kicked straight for the first goal of the day. Luke used the ball well as usual, with Brendan taking on the difficult job of drawing the better Easts players away from the corridor very effectively. Josh & James followed the ball all over the ground, with Lachie, Nick and Logan putting their head over the ball and winning clearouts regularly. Zac & Harry were in the game all the time with constant determination not to let go.
A difficult first assignment for stand-in coach Andrew, but his work on lifting the boys confidence and match play lead to an improved performance as the match continued. The boys will no doubt love to have the opportunity to take on Easts again to show them how good they really can play.
Best Team Player today was James P, with Most Improved Josh and Nick as our Player of the Day.
