Round 12 Match Report - U7s

Game 1 - Under 7s vs Newtown

The u/7 Drummoyne Power team showed great determination & defensive play against the strong newtown outfit today.

Oscar, Tom, Alex & Riley played hard all day in support of solid defence from Gabriella & Luke. Tom displayed magnificent celebratory spirit after a team score - unfortunately it was only a point.

Patrick showed prowess in the forward line with 2 early goals & great marks. Cameron had some brilliant running play, gathers & long kicks, one of which resulted in a fine pass & goal.

Players of the match today were William & thomas. William had a season best overhead marks and long runs through the midfield (with rugby style ball tucked under arm). Thomas had some nice kicks, strong runs into forward line & the best blind turn while under pressure.

Go U/7 Power!

Game 2 - Under 7s vs Newtown

After a bitter cold start to the morning and waiting for team photos, the boys had some thawing out to do. It took the boys a few minutes to get going as it was so cold, but once Atticus kicked the first long kick, things started to move along smoothly as everyone started to warm up and get right into the game. Plenty of excellent passing & marking dominated the first third along with some goals.

The second third saw some excellent team work from the centres, Nathan, Atticus and Gilbert. It was goal after goal from Ned as the centres kept passing the ball forward. A long kick from Atticus to Luca who then passed the ball to Maxim, was another example of great team work. Angus in the backs put his body on the line to stop a goal from the opposition. Ethan did well making sure the opposition wasn’t going to get passed him.

The last third saw more excellent passages of play with everyone contributing to the many goals scored. Angus, Ethan and Luca were fantastic in getting the ball to the forwards with strong kicks which resulted in excellent marks from the forwards. Nathan took an amazing mark and scored right between the goal posts. Atticus and Gilbert also scored as a result of the tremendous team work.

There were heaps of goals scored today:  Ned (4), Nathan (3), Atticus (4), Gilbert (1), Angus (1), Maxim (2). Strong, clean marks from Atticus, Ethan, Luca, Ned and Nathan contributed to the goal scoring frenzy.

The boys played as a strong team today, the best game of the season so far. The way that everyone contributed to their individual position as well as thinking of their team mates, shows how much the boys have matured. It was an excellent and exciting match, with everyone deserving of the title player of the match! Well done team !
