Round 12 Match Report - U9 Teal
Under 9s Teal vs Newtown Swans at Five Dock Park
Ely led the team today to its strongest showing this season. The determination, comradery and skill shown today impressed all who were watching.
The first quarter saw Benjamin open the scoring, with plenty of ball being fed through from the centres. Joshua in the centres was winning plenty of clean ball and combining well with James L and Stephen. Mark of the quarter went to James L. The standout performer in the backline was Luke, with some great clearing kicks to get us out of trouble.
The second quarter saw Stephen score his first career goal…congratulations!! The quarter also saw a strong scoring performance from Joshua who continued his great game. James C picked up the tempo in this quarter with some gutsy fighting for the ball and strong runs, feeding the forwards with some great opportunities.
The last quarter was impressive, goals scored by James C, Luke and Henry, with Henry’s goal following a top mark right in front of goal. The centres were strong, with Liam, Ely and Benjamin each taking exceptional marks and combining very well. In our backline, James took another strong mark and together with Joshua and Stephen they kept the opposition goalless.
Such a strong team performance has made it very difficult to choose a standout player. Exceptional performances from Luke, Joshua, James C, Benjamin, Henry and Liam.
The opposition played a very physical game, with close marking and strong tackling. Under instruction from the coach, the boys, who were 2 men down due to illness, kept focused on winning the ball cleanly and scoring goals, and by the end of the game amassed 11 goals in total, sharing these amongst 6 different players.
