Under 12s Teal Vs Maroubra Red
According to the ladder position of both sides coming into this game, you would assume that Maroubra Red would win this game convincingly. However, Power spirit cannot be discounted that easily. It was the Drummoyne Powerhouses that took control in the first quarter with a commanding performance that ultimately led to a well deserved victory. Our forwards of Tommy, Harrison, Louis, Jack and Angus C worked overtime to score four sensational and unanswered goals.
With the wind at our back in the second quarter, it was important for our boys to capitalise on this great first quarter effort. Our mid-field was in over-drive with Angus B leading the way as usual. Liam, DT and Ben were totally awesome as they took away any Maroubra momentum to dominate field position. During this period of play, we should have pressed for the “mercy rule” win. It was only the desperate Maroubra defence that thwarted our scoring opportunities to push the game beyond half-time.
During the third quarter Maroubra started to build some early pressure. Their mid-field kicked into gear and started to find free players across their centre-half forward line. Our backline comprising Nektar, Johnny, Sandy, Calum, Harry, Seb and Nicholas were fantastic as they restricted Maroubra to only two goals.
The fourth quarter started with Maroubra sensing a “come from behind” win. But it was our boys that were in front and that was where they were going to stay. They completely dominated the final quarter to record their third win in a row.
The final score was Power 9-10-64 to Maroubra Red 2-6-18.
