Maroubra White Vs Drummoyne Under 10s
We headed down to Maroubra for our last match for the season. It is always a challenge against the tough Maroubra Whites but the boys held their own in the first quarter booting two goals and holding the opposition scoreless. The efforts of 4 Under 9 players certainly contributed to the great start, Brendan, Luke, James and Brendan. They were not afraid to get amongst the play and showed great resolve in tackling and fighting hard for the ball.
The second quarter saw the teams even up with Maroubra kicking 3.1, however the defensive play by Bailey, Angus, Lewis, Jonah and Josh against a determined and tough attacking side was great to see.
Michael and Ewan were our key goal scorers who were supported well by Lindon. They kept the game alive as Maroubra played their trademark hard hitting match and pushed our team to have to dig deep to keep them at bay.
Thomas, William and Mathew were forever chasing the ball and tackling hard and provided some much needed defence across the centre line. Missing Samuel in defence, the boys stopped up to the ruck with confidence and won many of the contests.
In the end Maroubra came out on top but for the parents and friends watching from the sidelines, it was a match which highlighted the team’s determination to win the ball and commitment to play until the final siren goes.
