Round 15 Match Report - U11 Black

U11s Black Vs Maroubra Black

We have made it to the Finals!

An energised and enthusiastic Drummoyne Black team ran on to Heffron Park. Although the first goal was Maroubra’s, Drummoyne outclassed the opposition for the first two quarters.

Alistair was on fire, scoring Drummoyne’s first goal in first, second and third quarters. He also shook up the opposition with his fierce tackling. A determined Murali controlled the ruck, tapping the ball to Angus who dominated the centre sending the ball down to the Drummoyne goals on a regular basis. Max didn’t stop running all day and with a great mark in the first quarter deprived Maroubra of a certain goal. The versatile skills and speed of James meant he was always there when needed. Lewis maintained his speed and determination all game and Hugh and Alex never gave up.

Drummoyne played their best football all season in the second quarter. With three goals and one behind Rory was unstoppable and Ben’s handballing and tackling was a highlight. However in the third quarter we dropped that focus and determination, allowing Maroubra to kick five goals to our single.

A tired Drummoyne team lifted for the last quarter with goals by Alistair, the ever reliable Lachlan and Rory. Dylan, Peter and Daniel were at the heart of the action and in the final minutes desperate play saw Sam send the ball through the posts only to have it disallowed by the umpire. Special thanks to Lewis P. from the under 10s for helping us out.

Drummoyne Black is looking forward to meeting Maroubra Black again next week for the start of the finals. We were definitely were not outclassed this week by Maroubra, but a loss of concentration in the third quarter and few quick Maroubra goals towards the end cost Drummoyne the game.
