Round 15 Match Report - U11 Teal
Under 11s Teal vs Maroubra Red
Our Teal boys took to the field at Glebe for their final match of the season against the Red ‘Bra boys. It was a tough match for Teal who succumbed to some very committed and skilful opposition. And looking back over the season, while it’s been a tough one for the boys, there have been many highlights. Best of all was the commitment all boys showed to tough out their matches week in and week out. So for all their courage and development over the season they should be very proud of themselves and so the parents should be of their boys.
Call it Team Manager’s privilege if you like but I am devoting the last Teal match report to focus on some of the key highlights and strengths each of the boys showed us during the season.
Gabe adopted the number 15 jumper during the season and a new tougher version of Gabe emerged who was able to scrounge, duck and weave around the packs.
Alex showed some real flare this season with his kicking and made some standout massive punts down the ground on several occasions.
Lars showed great skill improvement during the season, particularly his kicking. He also proved to be a fearsome defender for Teal.
They don’t call him Eddy Everywhere for nothing. Eddy often played on opponents twice his height proving time and again that brains will beat brawn when he is playing at either full forward or full back.
When Darby was on form, he was able to shut down the man he was playing on - completely. He was very effective in close contests unafraid to fight for the ball and came home with the bruises to prove it. A mid season goal haul was also a highlight.
Joe must truly be one of the natural ruckmen of the competition. It also doesn’t hurt that he has a great big boot as well that helped with centre clearances.
Charlie took a number of unlikely grabs during the season, showing some skilful marking ability. He is another player who continued to grow in confidence as the weeks went on.
Rohan covered an awful lot of ground this year. He has a great sense of strategy on the field, always positioning himself well. His signature play is a great galloping run down the side flank.
Andrew took some speccy marks during the season and noticeably grew in confidence during the season showing some gritty determination under pressure.
Jack was one of Drummoyne’s great discoveries this season. Tough and courageous and first to the ball more often than not, he showed natural leadership on the field during the season.
Riley played another season of committed effort which saw him continue to win plenty of possessions effortlessly. Riley’s natural hand-eye coordination and fast pace helped make a big contribution to Teal’s total score-line over the season.
Sean stood up to some tough opposition at times showing what a courageous player he can be. He also showed some great improvement in ball skills this season as well showing signs of developing into a great mid-field utility player. James was another solid performer this season and worked especially well in defence. His strong marking ability is developing into James’ trademark.
Tim was another player that showed flashes of skilful play during the season producing some very handy kicking, the best example of which earned him a goal.
Jordan provided some great examples of thoughtful, accurate kicking demonstrating to his team mates just how important this is in the face of quality opposition.
I should also mention all the help from the boys in the U10s who helped fill out our numbers more weeks than not. I know that all the U11 boys and parents appreciate it.
Hope you all had some fun this season and enjoy the few weekends sleep in before the summer sports season kicks off.
