Round 15 Match Report - U12 Teal
Drummoyne Teal 5.10 40 l Drummoyne Black 8.8 56
U12 Teal took on their brothers from Drummoyne Black at Five Dock Park for their last game of season 2010.
The team was excited about giving their opponents a good workout before their finals campaign and did a great job right from the first bounce. Dylan was damaging early in the centre and was using his height to advantage and helped the centres set up many attacking moves. The backline was under pressure early doing a great job was Nick on the last line of defence and Nekta who took a couple of great marks. Jonathon was busy on the half back line and picked up a few kicks and Calum was as solid as a rock also.
Harrison had a great game and kicked the team's first goal early in the second quarter, he finished with 2 goals. Angus was finding space and if not for some unkindly bounces would have had a couple of goals by half time. Sandy was everywhere and took numerous great marks and Seb was causing problems for the opponents as he ran between half back and half forward.
Tommy was playing his usual damaging game and given them plenty to think about. He finished his game with a terrific goal in the last quarter. Finn was also getting involved and had a few kicks and Rory was presenting himself as a target in the forward line. Louis played back and forward during the game but really did most damage with his strong marks and shots on goal. He snapped a beauty from a sharp angle in the last quarter.
Jack was making the outer wing his own and was leading well and Liam played a great leaders game and did not give up all match. Ben also was fired up for the game and ran all day but his tackling was sensational and an inspiration to the rest of the team.
Although going down narrowly, Teal put in a mighty effort for their last Saturday game (U13s Sundays in 2011). Their last few weeks of football has been wonderful to watch and highlighted their improvement over the season.
Thanks to Ted for waving the flags, Peter for running, the Lavery family for washing and Lynette for B&F. A big thank you to Noel for his work with this group over the past few years, they have all enjoyed your unique coaching style and to Janine for being a great team manager.
Goal kickers: Harrison 2, Tommy, Louis & Nick 1 each.
