Under 9s Silver in action against Maroubra Black

Round 15 Match Report - U9 Silver

Under 9’s Silver vs Maroubra Black at Heffron Park

With Drummoyne Black having finished for the season and some usual players unavailable Luke Walton and Benji Williams joined the squad

A large field and windy conditions greeted the boys.

Marks to Ryan and Brendan showcased the ever improving skills of this unit and goals to Joshua and Harry helped keep the Power in front at the first change and all seemed well although it was a close game between teams of similar styles.

In the second quarter the Maroubra boys showed their familiarity with the big ground and used the space to advantage. Aggressive attack of the ball and running into space combined with accurate kicking to that space caught our boys out. While the backs played “in-front” the opposition seemed to have more players free in the scoring zone and jumped away.

Bryson scored what Coach later called the Goal of the season – an over the shoulder, wrong side of the foot, unsighted effort that snuck inside the post.

A change of direction into the wind for the final term of the season and some inspirational words from Steve inspired the boys to lift, and they won the quarter with a couple of goals to Brendan, great defence from Luke Walton.

Another great season for Silver with their understanding of the game, skills and execution growing each week.

Thanks to all the coaches, managers, trainers, report writers, orange providers and supporters.
