Round 2 Match Report - U12 Teal
Under 12 Teal vs Glebe
From the first bounce of the match,it was obviously a vastly different Glebe team than the one that Teal beat so convincingly in 2009, including a player who was literally head and shoulders above our boys. This was going to be great contest.
The first quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle with no team really dominating. Glebe scored the only goal to lead 7-3.
The second quarter saw the boys come out with a new determination,Louie was getting on top of gigantor, winning quality ball, while Tommy, Liam, Ben and Alex were doing a great job in the midfield and feeding the forwards. Angus B as usual was everywhere that the ball was, setting up a couple of goals for Tommy and slotting one of his own.Sebastian, Nektar and Rory continually frustrated the Glebe forwards with their tenacious tackling and spoiling in defence.
This was a fitting game to be played on Anzac Day weekend. It was a real battle out there, with the boys putting their bodies on the line time and again for their team-mates. Calum and Rory both copped heavy knocks, but were back into the fray for the third quarter. Drummoyne led by a couple of points at the break.
The third quarter was torrid with Jack, Harry and Dylan getting stuck in with great marks tackles and kicks. Angus B had literally ran himself to a standstill by the end of this quarter in another inspirational display, so Noel put him up front to give him a breather in the forth, but of course most of the action was down that end for the rest of the game. For the last five minutes or so, Drummoyne had Glebe pinned in their own pocket and were within two points, thanks to goals to Tommy and Angus B, but in the end were beaten by the hooter 53-51.
All in all, a great game where every player saw a lot of action and only a couple of points separated the teams at the end of each quarter. Thanks also to Glebe for lending us some of their players.
