Round 7 (make up round) Match Report - U9 Black
Drummoyne Power Under 9 Black 12 – 13 (85) against Newtown White
The Newtown Swans through everything at the Power in the first third and the Power responded with interest, dominating the goal line throughout the match.
Strong efforts from Luke, Harvey, Brendan, Michael and the ferocious Samuel - especially early in the game - made the Swans realise they had a tough match on their hands.
Benji kicked the first major after marking skilfully - and the goals then started to flow. Alex’s magnificent left foot snap from deep in the pocket was the Goal of the Day; whilst, Fraser also jagged a beauty, cleverly bouncing one through. Well done to all of the goal-kickers!
Ethan contested strongly the whole match - the highlight being a courageous Mark of the Day in the second period - with his palming of the ball to teammates proving decisive and helping him earn the Most Improved tag this week.
Blaise and Jessica were typically everywhere. Dashing out of defence, passing to open teammates, kicking goals and always encouraging - they will be greatly missed, but we wish them well in Tonga!
A wonderful handball passage of play late in the game was The Team Play of the Day. Just about everyone touched - Coach Walton would have been delighted!
Overall, a very good team performance. Well played Power!
