Round 7 (make up round) Match Report - U9 Silver

Under 9s Silver vs Newtown Swans

The Drummoyne Power U/9 Silver match today was against the Newtown Swans (a make up game from round seven), played at Sydney University No. 1 Oval, home to the SUANFC.

Nick was appointed captain for the day and with Brendan unavailable for the match, eleven Power players took the field. On field mental arithmetic took place and moments before the bounce, Nick and George donned the famous colours of Syd Uni for the first term. The nine a side game played in perfect conditions allowed plenty of ball for everyone.

The Swans dominated the first term with Power finding their feet late in the term with great marks to Lachlan and Ryan and a goal to Harry. After the first term break and the talk by the coach, the U/9 Silver team lifted for the second term in what could be described as the best term of football this season. The back line consisting of James, Bryson and Harry ensured the ball stayed down the other end of the field. James displayed terrific ball skills to clear the ball on a number of occasions. Harry and Bryson ensured that the Swans were to remain goalless for the term with great defence. The centres Nick, Joshua and Luke displayed some great hand passing and delivered great ball to the forwards who were able to score five unanswered goals, including three goals to Zac, who had an outstanding match, gathering the lose ball on a number of occasions. George was unlucky not to have registered a couple more goals.

The third term was dominated by a solid performance by all players, capitalising on the previous term, with Ryan, George and Lachlan moving the ball forward to the centres James, Harry and Logan who presented the forwards with great opportunities with several goals shared.

The play of the day began in the backline with a goal saving mark by Ryan, moving the ball forward to the centres, Harry, Logan and James and to the forward line through Luke, who delivered a clearing kick to Joshua who took a great mark in the goal square and finished off with a superb goal.

A dominating exhibition of team work, moving forward and capitalising on the lose ball, an overall solid team performance with fantastic ball skills on display.
