Round 7 (make up round) Match Report - U9 Teal
Drummoyne vs Newtown Swans
Our captain for the day, Henry led the team well. The boys started the game well and with confidence, a quick handball from Zac and goal to James. The first period saw some great persistent defensive work from our back line with Steven getting in and under the packs showing lots of courage and Luke working hard showing some good skill kicking long into the centre. Armando was consistent through the centre reading the play well and kicking into the forward line with great accuracy always finding one of his team mates. Henry and Liam.
The second saw some good attacking football from both teams with long and accurate kicks into both forward lines. Goals were hard to come by as the oppositions defence tightened up and our boys found it hard to find an uncontested possession. James displayed some good tap work out of the ruck with Amando reading the tap well boot quickly to ball and goal. A lovely mark on the goal line to Ely saw him then take his kick for a well deserved goal.
After the coach gave some clear instructions to the boys the final third saw a much better defence, slowing the opposition’s forward momentum and allowing Luke to score two goals and Steven one. Henry, Ely and Liam continued to apply pressure through the centre with the highlight being Steven fighting for the ball against three opposition and coming out of the pack with the ball!! Zac and James continued to dominate in defence showing determination with second and third efforts making it difficult for the opposition to score.
We done boys another great team effort.
Mark of the Day: Many great marks today, particularly in defence. Mark of the day to Amando who had one of his best games for the season.
Goals kicked by: Zac, James, Amando, Luke
Goal of the Day : Zac with a good snap from the pocket in the first quarter
