Round 9 Match Report - U11 Black
Drummoyne Black vs Drummoyne Teal
The Under 11s Black team played Drummoyne Under 11s Teal on a sunny but windy day at Drummoyne Oval. The team was captained by James and Lewis celebrated his 50th game for the club.
Running with the wind in the first quarter Drummoyne Black controlled position with most of the play occurring in the opposition half. Angus was dominant in the ball-ups and the rest of the team contributed with strong rucking and good open play. Rory, Max and James kicked goals and Ben kicked a behind. There were good disposals from Ben and Hugh with Alexander tackling well and strong defence from Peter.
The second half continued the good work with goals to Lewis, Rory and James and a behind to Alistair. There was good ruck work from Hugh and James, strong tackling from Murali and good disposals from Angus and Dylan. Good handballing and ball movement created many opportunities during the quarter.
The third quarter had goals from Rory and James and a behind from Rory. Angus was strong in defence, Alistair marked well in defence and Lachlan, Samuel and Daniel contributed with enthusiasm in all aspects of the play.
The last quarter had goals to James and Rory with behinds to Lachlan, Dylan and James.
The match was notable for the excellent teamwork from the Drummoyne U11 Black team. The handballing, passing and rucking were superb and good tackling nullified many of the opposition’s attacks. All players unselfishly created opportunities for their teammates that made Lewis’s 50th game a memorable one.
