Round 9 Match Report - U11 Teal
Drummoyne Teal vs Drummoyne Black
It was about time for some decent weather and it returned in fine form for the Drummoyne v Drummoyne home game grudge match. Not so much of a close tussle this time around with Black getting the better of Teal.
For Teal this week, the goal scorers were the ever reliable Rohan and Riley. Rohan’s first goal was a terrific solo effort with a sprint with the ball rewarded by a kick into the open goal and then backing up for a late goal in the dying minutes of the game. Riley on the other hand scored his goal as part of his stellar utility efforts which he employed throughout the whole game.
There were some notable marks taken by a number of our Teal players this week. Eddy, Lars, James and Joe all took impressive grabs and most were vital in arresting the onslaught of the Black team’s attacking play. The ultimate defensive mark this week was taken by Eddy right on the opposition’s goal line.
When the Teal boys are communicating on the field and deploying the skills they are learning in training, it makes all the difference in the world. This week we saw great examples of shepherding from some of the boys including Darby, Gabe and James. Other good examples of play came from Jack, Jordan, Andrew, Alex and Lars who each showed the effectiveness of well directed kicking to their team mates.
We continue to benefit from the enthusiasm of our U10 players who back up to join Teal - Matt and Angus were tireless in their defensive efforts today.
And finally, we celebrated the end of the game by acknowledging the 50 game milestones for Darby and Charlie. Well done boys, may there be many more in your careers with Drummoyne Power.
